Emergency Assistance Network
The Emergency Assistance Network offers direct emergency financial assistance to families and individuals in crisis for basic needs such as rent, utilities, food, clothing, gasoline, prescriptions, medical needs, job related expenses, and homelessness prevention services.
In cooperation with the Ministerial Alliance and the Salvation Army, Mission Granbury initiated the Emergency Assistance Network (EAN) during March of 1999. Today, this consortium includes 24 local churches, Hood County Children’s Charities, Hood County Salvation Army and several other small social service providers. The EAN provides emergency financial assistance to individuals and families, many of whom are victims of family violence. Donated funds help provide continuation of utility service, prevent eviction or foreclosures, and enable adults and children to get necessary prescription and dental services. Mission Granbury provides life skills education to help families regain and maintain self-sufficiency so that they can get back on their feet and take care of their household bills.
Classes and individual case management provide useful information on budgeting, community resources, parenting education, stress management, hygiene, and nutrition. As part of the initial assessment, EAN applicants are screened for domestic violence experience, and appropriate referrals are made to Mission Granbury victims’ assistance.
